Heart/Lungs

Scratching at every pore
Your heart will often beat a chore
Can't stop the discharge from exits
Shapes, sizes, rivers, routines
You won't be alone
For a single day
Once you're in a deep sleep
Resistance fades
And then
Parched and varicose
I'll lean in with breath
And a half-lit gaze
To riddle you with tubes
Bound to permanent night
Distant for awhile
Dripping tendrils of life
Filter through the blinds
A poem and a vertical knife
Cutting the right size

Brown genetic water
DNA
Crawls down your leg
Virus-size
Blank field of light
Loud, hot white
Scaled-down death
Iris-sized
Streams the brine
Down pale, green thighs
It's got your six legs
And a face like a traitor
Fumbling fingers
Where the jawline ends
Torso encased in averted eyes
----bard lyrics----
It's got your crumbling thighs
Your tendency to backslide
Your capricious nature
And your erring towards failure
